Durham Gets New Venue

Exciting news in 2010 for live music fans. The old Australian Bar known as Walkabout in Durham City is undergoing a massive makeover to reopen at the end of January. The Informer has already had a sneak preview as craftsmen were applying their skills to the transformation, which includes a totally new stage and viewing areas. The venue will cater for both live music and club nights.

Although the nails were still being knocked into wood and paint was drying, the new venue is already looking special. The Informer will bring you full details in the February issue of the new venue, which is to be known as The Durham Academy. We will be talking to owners Utopian Leisure about their exciting plans for 2010 and gigs set for Durham. Gold Topped Vintage Guitarist

He plays his trademark 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop with love and passion. He has played guitar for two of the greatest bands ever, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy. He performed 'Comfortably Numb' on top of a specially created 80 foot high wall in front of 350,000 people in Berlin. He is the highly respected Snowy White who begins a tour of the UK with his own band next month. The Informer will talking to Snowy for the February issue, when we will find out more about his amazing CV and the guitars he plays with such finesse and style.
